Nurse Practitioner


Position Description
: Under general supervision of the Executive Director, perform professional nurse practitioner duties requiring specialized knowledge of evidentiary child physical abuse, sexual abuse and/or neglect examinations.

Duties Include: Perform evidentiary child physical abuse, sexual abuse and/or neglect examinations to assess child abuse using knowledge of developmental care and evidence collection protocols to ensure forensically sound and age-appropriate examinations, evidence collection, and medical record documentation. Function within the scope of the professional nurse practitioner license and incorporate the mission and vision of the Dickerson Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC) and the SC Child Abuse Medical Response System (SCCAMRS).

Education and Experience: A Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Training as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) preferred.

Four years of professional work experience performing nurse practitioner duties of which two years must include work experience with children or families. Applicant must possess a current State of South Carolina Nurse Practitioner license.

Compensation: Dickerson Children’s Advocacy Center is prepared to offer a competitive compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience. Annual salary range is 100,000 – 115,000.

Clinical Services Manager

Supervisor: Assistant Director of Clinical Services

The primary purpose of this position is to provide and manage advocacy and clinical services to family members and caregivers whose children have been victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, witnessing violence, and severe maltreatment for the children being served by the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) and the Dickerson Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC). The primary focus of the position is coordinating intervention services that have been recommended by MDT members, identifying any barriers that may prevent the family from receiving services, advocating for immediate service implementation and providing crisis and therapy to caregivers.

Education and Experience: A master’s degree in social work, counseling or related field and a minimum of three years of experience in counseling is required. Experience working with children is required; working with victims of abuse is preferred. South Carolina Clinical License is required. Experience and/or knowledge of underserved and special needs populations is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities.  This list of essential duties and responsibilities is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed.  Incumbents may be required to perform position related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description:

Crisis Support and Therapy Services

  • Provide crisis intervention and individual therapy for caregiver victims of violence, utilizing evidence-based and trauma-focused treatment modalities such as TF-CBT.
  • Facilitates support groups for non-offending caregivers.
  • Maintain client files for assigned case load.
  • Provide support to the Victim Advocate Coordinators as needed by assisting with client orientations, coordinating service delivery and ensuring proper support and assistance in providing across the continuum of services provided by DCAC.
  • Provide trauma assessment with child victim, caregivers and other family members.
  • Provide crisis intervention and crisis counseling for victims and families referred to the Children’s Advocacy Center.
  • Educate non-offending caregivers about child abuse, child maltreatment and the various systems that may become involved with their family.
  • Provide and/or assist with support groups for victims and/or families referred to the Children’s Advocacy Center.
  • Attend regularly scheduled supervisory meetings as requested.
  • Participate in educational presentations and experiences requested by management team.
  • Assist with organizing and/or providing orientation and training experiences for the community as requested by the management team.

Advocacy and Outreach Services:

  • Provide and oversee crisis advocacy for victims and families referred to the Children’s Advocacy Center to include the 11th Judicial Circuit Service area.
  • Direct Advocacy and Outreach staff services through intake and case management in conjunction with the Director of Clinical Services and the Executive Director.
  • Provides oversight for Outcome Measures, Grant program management in conjunction with Grant Administration staff, DCS, ADCS and Executive Director.
  • Provides leadership to DCAC’s MDT and community partners for Advocacy Services through coordination and education activities to enhance resources and collaboration.
  • Directs the Navigation Teams, aids in coordination with DCAC’s Continuum of Care with the DCS and ADCS.
  • Assist the Assistant Director Clinical Services (ADCS) in the coordination and annual maintenance of DCAC interagency protocols, MDT Agreement and MDT Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) to ensure they are current and functional.
  • Maintains relationships with community partners and cultivates new partners.
  • Assists with the creation and management of outreach materials, packets, and presentations for DCAC’s Outreach Services Plan.
  • Identify community resources through research, referrals, and introduction via DCAC community partners.
  • Participate in the creation and maintenance of community resources within and for underserved communities.
  • Assists identifying and addressing gaps and duplication in community services by providing a wide range of clinical and forensic services, coordinating and monitoring community task forces, response teams and other service providers within organizations and agencies who interface with crime victims.
  • Conduct training and presentations and participate in community events to aid in understanding DCAC services.

Supervision:

  • Promotes DCAC’s Strategic Plan objectives by supervising staff and organizing, monitoring and evaluating supervisee’s work progress.
  • Maintains program staffing through recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees and developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Accomplishes staff job results by coaching, counseling and disciplining employees to develop competency and personal growth through performance management program.
  • Creates performance development plan with supervisees; monitors and evaluates plan on a regular basis.
  • Conducts training; supervises training requests for supervisees.
  • Implements and enforces systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards and adhering to legal regulations.
  • Assists DCAC’s Leadership Team in monitoring expenditures and resources for agency budget and grant management.

Forensic Interviewer:

  • Conduct initial forensic interview of alleged victim using the Child First protocol assessing for all typologies of child maltreatment. Provide documentation of the outcome of the forensic interview to MDT investigative partners, including recommendations for safety and treatment.
  • Administer or ensure the administration of any testing instruments and assessment tools utilized at the Dickerson Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC).
  • Work with medical program to ensure information is shared regarding the client’s assessment and ensure the client/family transition to the medical exam if it is scheduled after the assessment.
  • Coordinate the outcome of the assessment process with the appropriate (investigative agencies) service providers (DSS, law enforcement, etc.), including ensuring that all reports are provided in a timely manner.
  • Provide a written report of the forensic assessment within ten days of the interview.
  • Provide any necessary follow-up and consultation with the child, family members, other caregivers, and community agencies.
  • Makes referrals to other community agencies when appropriate and ensures that the services to which clients are referred are appropriate for and accessible to the client.
  • Coordinate with the Case Manager/Intake Coordinator and Victim Advocate to support client services.
  • Testify in court or in depositions on behalf of clients when necessary.
  • Attend and be prepared to present at scheduled community case management staffing and scheduled special staffing for clients as necessary.
  • Act as liaison between DCAC, Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) partners and other community agencies.

Clinical/Community Services Coordinator

Position Description: The primary purpose of the Clinical/Community Services Program Coordinator (CCSC-2) position is to coordinate and provide therapy, forensic interviews and outreach services to aid child victims.

Duties Include: The CCSC-2 will focus on tasks and activities that will enhance, expand and coordinate the implementation of comprehensive children and community intervention services that have been recommended by DCAC’s clinical, outreach and MDT teams. The CCSC-2 will also serve as a back-up forensic interviewer.

Education and Experience: Master’s Degree in Human Services field plus a minimum of two years of experience in the field of children services, including sexual abuse and/or victim advocacy is required; masters preferred. Previous experience in law enforcement, social work, public health, education, mental health, and/or experience as a trainer/educator is preferred.

Compensation: DCAC offers a competitive compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience. Annual salary range is 50,000 – 68,000.
